Aakasamantha ....

On the eve of Women’s day when everyone else is talking about women empowerment and women rights, equality and achievements, I would like to talk about them too. But, today I just feel like having a little “Jugalbandi,” (a short story in English followed by a little poetry that portrays a girl’s heart).

Before I start, for the starters it is not a story that has an ending, for that matter I do not discuss the end. If it ends happily, then the  people who were in the story are the luckiest people. If it doesn’t end happily, you know.. these poets, writers and many other people will get credit for that story, stating that “It’s so natural and realistic” We love those kinds of stories because, somewhere sometime we might have been part of such failures, if not us directly our friends or  someone else because we stumble upon failures more often than on successes in our lives.

Coming into the story…

Long long ago there lived a girl who believed on doing what she felt right from her heart, she was good and adamant, kind and jealous, talented and stupid, beautiful and she knows that she is beautiful( you may think I am feminist, but being a girl I can imagine easily how a girl feels like. Its rather tough to get into a Guy's shoes). She was once working in God’s favorite garden (She was told by God to plant few plant saplings in the Garden). In the afternoon from the fogs of January, there came a boy who was watching the girl from morning in the garden( He was the actual Gardener). Soon, they became friends. They worked together, they laughed together, and they learned together.

One fine morning boy thought that he cannot have this happiness when the girl completes to plant all the plant saplings. He thought that God will take her away after she finishes her work. He started unearthing the planted saplings at night when the girl was asleep to make her stay for few more days.

God came to know about this and called the boy and told him “Son, I made both of you to be friends forever. I don’t see a reason why you behave like this and spoil the garden. She is working hard every day and you are spoiling her work. Is this the way to show your love? Why don’t you just walk to her and ask her to stay with you? I don’t understand why should you complicate things for yourself, why can’t you open your mouth and just say how you feel? I am very disappointed with you. I am bound to give a curse to everyone who does a bad thing. I hereby curse you that you can never express your love to the girl.” The boy was ashamed of himself and never told the girl about his curse.

After few days, girl completed her work, God called her and told “My dear, I am very impressed by your work, please let me know what boon you want from me. “

Girl: “Dear God, Please let me stay in this garden forever!”

God:” Why do you want to stay here?”

Girl: “Because I love the Gardener”

God: “ok! You may stay here, but I would like to hear if Gardner loves you too. Only then you can stay here.”

Girl: “I know he does, I am sure of it”

God: “Then prove it! Don’t let him know that you love him before you make me hear him about his love”

Girl: “oh thank you God !thank you so much!”

But the girl never was able to make God hear about boy’s love due to his curse. So she had to leave the Garden, but she knows deep down that he loves her. And finally as a parting gift she gave him this poem and  left  forever (She is a Telugu girl probably :-) ) .
